Renovatio Engineering proposed transaction reviewed by the Competition Council

Renovatio Engineering and its subsidiary, ÎCS Energo Continent, are involved in a proposed transaction currently under review by the Competition Council.

According to Agenda Construcțiilor, the Competition Council is analysing the proposed acquisition of 50% of the share capital of Renovatio Engineering and of its subsidiary, ÎCS Energo Continent, Moldova, by Greenvolt International Power SA, Portugal. Following the transaction, Renovatio Engineering and ÎCS Energo Continent would be held by Greenvolt International Power SA and RG Renovatio Group Limited, Cyprus.

This is an important step in the transaction process, as Romanian competition legislation requires the review and authorisation of such operations by the Competition Council. The authority will assess the compatibility of the transaction with a normal competitive environment before issuing a decision within the legal timeframe.

The proposed structure brings together companies active in renewable energy development and electricity production. Greenvolt is part of the Greenvolt Group, a renewable energy producer headquartered in Portugal, with activity in biomass, photovoltaic solar projects and decentralised energy production.

The same source notes that the Renovatio Group is involved in renewable energy project development, including engineering, procurement and construction services, asset operation, electricity trading and consultancy. Renovatio Engineering is owned by RG Renovatio and operates mainly in the field of electricity production through related and support services, while ÎCS Energo Continent is active in electricity production in Moldova.

For us, this proposed transaction reflects the continued consolidation and professionalisation of the renewable energy market in the region.

As clean energy projects become larger and more complex, partnerships, investment structures and operational capabilities matter more. The transition depends on strong development capacity, technical expertise, asset management, trading know-how and the ability to connect renewable production with market needs.

This review stage is part of a wider process that shows how renewable energy businesses are evolving: more structured, more cross-border and more integrated across the value chain.

Renovatio Engineering’s role in this context is connected to the practical layer of the transition: developing, supporting and operating renewable energy infrastructure. As the market continues to mature, this type of expertise becomes increasingly relevant for both Romania and the wider region.

We will continue to follow the process as it moves through the required regulatory steps.
