A major step forward for Romania’s clean energy transition.
Together with OMV Petrom, we are starting construction on three wind projects with a total capacity of 305 MW in Bacău and Galați counties. The projects are entering the execution phase, with first production expected to begin gradually from the first half of 2027.
The three projects are part of the renewable energy portfolio developed through Electrocentrale Borzești, the joint venture between OMV Petrom and RNV Infrastructure, part of Renovatio Group. According to Balkan Green Energy News, the projects that reached final investment decision are Gura Văii, with 50 MW, Podu Turcului, with 100 MW, both located in Bacău county, and Poiana, with 155 MW, located in Galați county.
This milestone matters because it moves new renewable capacity from project development into execution.
For Romania, wind energy remains an important part of the clean energy mix. It supports diversification, strengthens generation capacity and contributes to a more resilient energy system. At this scale, the projects can also help accelerate the transition toward lower-carbon electricity production and reduce long-term exposure to fossil fuel volatility.
The projects are also part of a broader renewable platform. Electrocentrale Borzești is running projects for 950 MW in wind power and 50 MW in photovoltaics, while the three wind projects now entering construction represent a significant step in turning that pipeline into operational infrastructure.
For us, this development reflects the value of long-term partnerships and execution discipline.
Renewable energy progress depends on more than targets. It depends on projects that secure permits, reach final investment decision, move into construction and ultimately deliver electricity into the system. Each stage requires coordination between development, financing, engineering, technology, grid integration and market strategy.
Together with OMV Petrom, we are contributing to infrastructure that can support Romania’s energy resilience and help expand the country’s renewable generation base.
This milestone goes beyond capacity. It reflects real progress in scaling renewable energy, strengthening energy security and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future.
