The 50 MW Borzești Solar Park, developed by Renovatio Solar in partnership with OMV Petrom, has received its commercial operation licence and is now supplying electricity to the market.
Located on the site of the former Borzești thermal power plant, the project marks a significant step in Romania’s transition toward cleaner energy production. By transforming a former conventional power generation site into a renewable energy asset, the project reflects the practical direction of the energy transition: using existing industrial locations to support new clean energy infrastructure.
With an installed capacity of 50 MW, Borzești Solar Park contributes to Romania’s renewable energy development and supports the diversification of the national energy mix.
The project is part of a broader renewable energy portfolio developed together with RNV Infrastructure. According to Renovatio Group’s communication, the wider portfolio includes 1,000 MW of renewable energy projects, with 950 MW planned to be developed together with RNV Infrastructure.
For Renovatio Group, the operationalisation of Borzești Solar Park is also part of a larger growth trajectory. With total installed renewable energy capacity exceeding 2,300 MW, the Group continues to contribute to Romania’s clean energy transformation through projects that combine development expertise, partnerships and long-term infrastructure.
The transition to renewable energy depends on projects that move from planning to operation. Borzești Solar Park is an example of this process: a developed asset, connected to the market, contributing clean electricity and supporting Romania’s energy objectives.
As the energy sector evolves, projects like Borzești help strengthen the role of solar power in the national system. They support cleaner generation, create long-term value and contribute to a more resilient energy future.
